Are You Missing Out on Free Money!

How to Find Unclaimed Money

If a business, government office, or other source owes you money that you don’t collect, it's considered unclaimed. Unclaimed property can include many things, including cash, checks, money orders, security deposits, or the contents of safe deposit boxes.

The federal government doesn’t have a central website for finding unclaimed money. But you don’t need to hire a company to find unclaimed money for you. You can find it on your own for free, using official databases.

Search For Unclaimed Money in Your State

Businesses send money to state-run unclaimed property offices when they can’t locate the owner. The unclaimed funds held by the state are often from bank accounts, insurance policies, or your state government.

Search for Money From Employers

  • Unpaid Wages – The Department of Labor (DOL) may recover back wages for you if your employer broke labor laws. If you think you may be owed back wages from your employer:
    • Search DOL’s database of workers who have money waiting to be claimed. DOL holds unpaid wages for up to three years.
  • Pensions from Former Employers – Search for unclaimed pensions from companies that either:
    • Went out of business or
    • Ended a defined pension plan

Search for Money From Insurance

  • VA Life Insurance Funds – Search the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) database for unclaimed insurance funds.
    • The VA may owe money to current or former policyholders or their beneficiaries.
    • This database doesn’t include funds from:
      • Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (SGLI)
      • Veterans’ Group Life Insurance (VGLI) policies from 1965 to the present
  • FHA-Insurance Refunds – If you had an FHA-insured mortgage, you may be eligible for a refund. FHA insurance refunds are issued by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
    • Search the HUD database with your FHA case number. Case numbers have three digits, a dash, and the next six digits—for example, 051-456789.

Search for Money From Tax Refunds

  • Tax Refunds – The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may owe you money if your refund was unclaimed or undelivered.

Search for Money From Banking and Investments

Search for Unclaimed Money From a Bankruptcy

A bankruptcy creditor is someone who is owed money by a person or business which declares bankruptcy. Sometimes, the money owed to creditors remains undistributed by the bankruptcy court for a variety of reasons.

International Unclaimed Money

Foreign Claims – U.S. nationals can find money owed to them from foreign governments after the loss of property.

Undelivered and Unclaimed Federal Tax Refund Checks

Every year, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has millions of dollars in tax refunds that go undelivered or unclaimed.

Undelivered Federal Tax Refund Checks

Refund checks are mailed to your last known address. If you move without notifying the IRS or the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), your refund check may be returned to the IRS.

If you were expecting a federal tax refund and did not receive it, check the IRS' Where’s My Refund page. You'll need to enter your Social Security number, filing status, and the exact whole dollar amount of your refund. You may be prompted to change your address online.

You can also call the IRS to check on the status of your refund. Wait times to speak with a representative can be long. But, you can avoid waiting by using the automated phone system. Follow the message prompts when you call.

If you move, submit a Change of Address - Form 8822 (PDF, Download Adobe Reader) to the IRS; you should also submit a Change of Address to the USPS.

Unclaimed Federal Tax Refunds

If you are eligible for a federal tax refund and don’t file a return, then your refund will go unclaimed. Even if you aren't required to file a return, it might benefit you to file if:

  • Federal taxes were withheld from your pay

and/or

You may not have filed a tax return because your wages were below the filing requirement. But you can still file a return within three years of the filing deadline to get your refund.

State Refund Checks

For information about your state tax refund check, contact your state revenue department.

How to Be Very Successful At Crowdfunding by Free Stuff Directory 24/7 Staff

How to Be Very Successful At Crowdfunding by Free Stuff Directory 24/7 Staff - June 30, 2022

Crowdfunding is a very easy way to raise money for these types of expenses.

If you story can pull on someone’s heart strings hard enough, you can earn the funds you need to pay for medical bills. Crowdfunding is probably one of the best things to come out of social media. It’s like standing on the street corner begging for money, without you actually having to stand outside.

The use of crowdfunding is great, because after you’ve paid the crowdfunding site, you get to keep the money you earned (some sites may not issue the funds if you haven’t met your goals). But, how do I tell my story?

So, How Do I Develop My Story?

To craft your pitch, first you have to know exactly what your need is. No one but you can answer this question. Think long and hard about it. When writing your script for your video, keep in mind that it should be no longer than 5 minutes. You want it long enough where the viewer can get a sense of who you are, what your need is, and how they can help; but not so long that they stop viewing all together before your call to action.

Your Pitch Should Include:

1) A video of yourself

2) 1 to 1-½ minutes long- Introduce who you are (show emotions, don’t be stiff and proud, don’t forget it is you who is begging for the money).

3) 2 minutes long - Tell the public what your need is, or why do you need the money

4) 1-1/2 minutes long - What will the donor get in return ( a personalized note, a phone call, what!)

5) 1 minute long – A call to action! What can your donors do to help you spread the word? Share your video on social media, write blog posts, “ I really need your help!” - you can offer to write guest posts).

How to Get More Backers

Without backers, or the people who are donating to your project, you have no project. You have to get on the freeway and go where the backers are. In this case, an online presence is your greatest asset. It will allow you to use all social media platforms to get your cause out there. Depending on your story, you can also use other forms of media such as television but this will depend on if your need is visual or not.

Go Fund Me (http://www.gofundme.com) Offers a 0% fee way to raise money for your medical bills or expenses. You can use their platform to build your campaign, develop your story, share your story with your friends and family. At the end of your campaign, you can send the money you raised to your bank account within 2 – 5 days.

In review:

1) Craft your story. Make it compelling and express your vulnerable side. Use a catchy title to draw more people to your personal plight.

2) Use video and photos you tell your story. This is all about you allow people to empathize with you and open up their wallets and purses in your honor.

3) Create the ultimate social media strategy. Via social media you can reach people all around the globe. Get your family and friends involved as well.

4) Also use other ways to spread the word like television, emails, texts, or calling people you know.

5) You may also want to throw a party to show your gratitude, but since parties can be expensive, I would settle for a picnic in the park type of thing. You can even get the local news to cover the event.

6) Update, update, update. No one likes to donate money to a cause and not here what is going on. Always, always, always, give a progress report, or an update; whether it good or bad, people want to know.

7) Show your thanks to everyone that donated money. Donation letters are a great way to achieve this.

8) Down the road, after your ordeal is over with, you can throw a celebration party and invite all the donors who made it possible for you.

How To Get A Car For Free by Staff

How to Get A Car For Free by Staff

June 29, 2022

Everyone does not live in a big city where they can readily access public transportation if they don't own a vehicle.  Some people can afford an Uber or a Lyft, while others cannot.

If you think really really hard, you may be able to come up with one or two ways to get a car for free, but I will show you five actual ways that you can use to get a free car.

1. ASK A FRIEND FOR A CAR

Your best friend or friends for years knows of your hardships, but they are waiting on you to personally come to them.  So you have to put your pride aside.

Maybe they have a car that you could have or borrow.  Never buy a vehicle from a friend, it will ruin the relationship.  Make a contract of the terms of the agreement, and both or all of you sign and date it, then everyone gets a copy.

If they have a car that they let you have or borrow, don't expect them to make necessary repairs and to keep gasoline in the vehicle, these are your responsibilities.  You should also get insurance on the car, just in case.

2. THE FUNDING SITES

If you are not familiar with a 'crowd funding site' they can be an excellent way to get the extra money you need to purchase a cash car, or to even get caught up on the bills.

Crowd funding is a relatively new concept that basically equates to panhandling on the street corner.  Many sites do not accept personal pleas for money, but there are a few that can help you, I will cover these at the end of this segment.

How To Get Started?

First, you have to create your plea, your cry for help.  In this instance it is for a car, but it could be for any hardship.

Then, you have to create a video and post it to YouTube, the best video to make is one that has the potential to go Viral, to spread like wildfire.  For a viral video, it should be under one minuet, the skit should be funny, poke fun at yourself, if you can.

Next, you log on to the Crowd funding site, create an account and post your information.

Lastly, you want to get as much attention focused on you as possible.  Tell others about your funding.  Post on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.  E-mail the local media, post flyers in your neighborhood, and create a poster to place on the vehicles of your friends.

What are the best Crowd Funding Sites for Individuals?

  • Go Fund Me - www.gofundme.com - also allow you to collect money for personal causes. However they will charge you a percentage of the fund you receive for their time.

There is a host of other crowd funding sites.  Conduct a Google® search to find out the best one for you.

3. BARTERING FOR WHEELS

Bartering is essentially trading a service or goods for something else.  It does not involve cash, which make bartering so attractive.  I know you've seen ads for bartering before, such as: will trade mobile home for boat, or will work for food.  Will work for food is a typical sign a homeless person would hold on the street corner.

Since the days of bible and before then, bartering has been in existence.

Use Bartering News 1 (949) 831.0607 - www.barternews.com in California, to help you locate clubs or conduct a Google ® search to find the closest bartering club to you.  You may have to pay a membership to join the club, but it will be well worth it.

If you join a bartering club, you just look for people who have cars to trade for something.

If you don't decide to join a bartering club, there are several ways that you can find someone to barter with you.  You can place ads in your local Want Ads paper and at online classified sites, look in the classified ads in big newspapers, or look at online classified sites.

When using this method to obtain a car, use a contract and put everything in writing.  You'll still be responsible for TTL.

4.  ASK YOUR BOSS

If you boss sees that you are a good worker, but that you need reliable transportation to get back and forth to work, they may be able to help you.  Normally managers hate to loose good help and will bend over backwards to help.

No one can help you if you don't ask for it, so ask?  He or she already knows that you are having trouble getting to work and probably has taken you home on more than one occasion.

5. ASK THE CITY YOU LIVE IN

You need a car, the city uses vehicles for public works, but what does it do with those vehicles when they are retired.  Maybe the city you live in has a program that can help people get transportation, especially if the city does not offer public transportation.  You don't know if you don't ask.

Maybe you could even barter services?
